Paypal Express Checkout

In order to set up payments you must fill out the preferences related to the individual provider. It is thus a different setup you must follow whichever payment provider you are about to set up. Below you will find how to fully complete the fields in order to activate Paypal Express Checkout. Please note we have no control over the interface on this provider so your experience on the site may be slightly different, however the steps will likely be similar.

Disclaimer: Before syncing a payment gateway with the Editor you need to first create a separate account with the payment gateway. This usually requires you providing your bank details and selecting an appropriate subscription type with that particular payment gateway. Please be aware that the Editor is only set up to accept direct credit card payments via payment gateways, not alternative payment methods such as mobile payments, payments in instalments, etc. Make sure to keep this in mind when selecting your subscription type with the payment gateway and avoid choosing a type that supports alternative payment methods.

Once you have registered an account you can log in here and progress through the steps below to integrate it with the Editor.

Payment Method Name

Often the consumer doesn't recognize the name of Payment Gateways and therefore might not know what payment option is it associated with. It is helpful to add a Payment Method Name that the consumer will recognize.

Paypal Username, Password & Signature

1. Login to your Paypal account and find Selling Tools under your profile. Click on the link: Seller Preferences, in the bottom of the page.

2. Click on the Update link on the right of the API access option.

3. Find the NVP/SOAP API integration (Classic) section in the bottom of the page. Click on the link "Manage API credentials". Once you have clicked the "manage API credentials" you'll have to verify that it's your account with a verification code send to your phone.

4. Click on "show" next to username, password & signature and the area will expand with the information you'll need to include in the Editor.

Note: When copying over the username, password and signature into the Editor, make sure that you copy the exact keys and not any additional trailing spaces. If you double-click an item instead of dragging and highlighting it with your mouse, Paypal sometimes adds a trailing space. If this space is included in the Editor, customers will not be able to get to the payment step as the API credentials will be identified as incorrect.

Enable Test Mode

By enabling test mode you will be able to go through a purchase and its check out flow, without effectively completing a monetary transaction.

Capture order on step 3

When enabling Capture Order on Step 3, the amount of the purchase is immediately charged from the customer's account when an order is placed. This setting is not legal in all countries so please make sure that it's legal in your country before enabling it.

If you don't enable Capture Order on Step 3, the customer will not be charged before the pending order manually is moved from "pending orders" to "completed orders" by the shop owner.

Icons for Payment Method

In this section it is possible to add icons representative of the payment method.
