Sometimes you may want to add a couple of words to go with an image; in the editor, it is possible to add and display a caption on images through the Gallery Module. Captions can be displayed in two places: along with the image thumbnails or as a popup overlay when the image is opened full screen.
1. Where to add the caption?
There are two places where you can add a caption to an image.
1.1. Global Data
If you have uploaded all relevant images in the Gallery section of Global Data, you will be able to add an individual caption to each image there. Read how to add caption to an image in the Gallery Global Data here!
1.2. Locally on Gallery Module
When editing the Gallery Module, when you manually add the images instead of using Global Data, you will find the option to add caption there. Read all about the Gallery Module here!
2. Where to enable the caption?
You will find the caption settings under the Gallery Module. Navigate to the Settings tab and on the bottom you will find two options:
2.1. CAPTION WITH THUMBNAIL
If you wish to display the image caption underneath the image thumbnail in the gallery, simply enable this setting.
2.2. CAPTION IN POPUP OVERLAY
If you wish to display the image caption in the popup overlay when the image is shown full-screen, simply enable this setting.
3. How to style the caption?
3.1. Caption with Thumbnails
It is possible to style the caption with thumbnails in two places: locally, in the Gallery Module, under the Styling tab; or globally, under Global Styling > Module Design > Galleries. Read all about Gallery Global Styling here!
3.2. Caption in Popup Overlay
It is possible to style the caption in popup overlay under Global Styling > Module Design > Caption in Popup Overlay. Read all about Caption in Popup Overlay Global Styling here!
