Trigger Events

When adding or editing an on-site engagement, Trigger Events is the second section. In this section it is possible to define what actions should trigger the on-site engagement. Keep in mind that an on-site engagement will only be displayed when all the trigger events are fulfilled.

1. Trigger Events Summary

At the top of the page you can find a summary of the trigger events that are currently enabled for that specific on-site engagement. Again, keep in mind that the on-site engagement will only be shown when all of the triggers are fulfilled; this means that the more triggers you add, the more personalized and restricted the on-site engagement will be.

1.1 No Trigger Event

In case no special trigger events are added to the on-site engagement, the on-site engagement will appear right away in the site, without any conditions - unless its visibility is set as hidden under Trigger Settings.

2. Enable Special Trigger Events

When enabling a special trigger event you must fill in the specific preferences for each trigger, followed by pressing the toggle on the right side of the option. When the toggle is green, it means that the trigger is enabled.

2.1. Location

This trigger is related to the geographical location of the site's visitor, this means you can determine that a specific on-site engagement will only be shown on a specific location.

The preferences for this trigger include the target location - full address or latitude/longitude - and the target specificity - where should the target branch to: country, region or city.

2.2. Schedule

This trigger allows you to define a start time and an end time for your on-site engagement; this means that the on-site engagement will only be shown between that time interval.

The preferences for this trigger include start and end time - which you can select by clicking on top of the fields and choose it in the calendar, or, in case you don't have a specific hour in mind, check the All Day option - and the timezone - where you can define whether the date and time should be based on the user's timezone (provided by their browser) or a specific timezone. By default, the trigger is set for one month, with the start time being the date of creation and the end time exactly one month past that date.

2.3. Visits

This trigger allows you to define the number of website visits before the on-site engagement shows; this means that the on-site engagement will only be shown after a visitor has been on your site a certain number of times.

The only preference for this trigger is the number of website visits before the on-site engagement shows; all you must do is type down the relevant number of visits on the field or use the small arrows to increase/decrease the number.

2.4. Page Views

This trigger allows you to define a minimum of page views before the on-site engagement shows; this means that the on-site engagement will only be shown after a visitor has seen a certain number of pages in the site.

The only preference for this trigger is the number of pages viewed before the on-site engagement shows; all you must do is type down the relevant number of pages on the field or use the small arrows to increase/decrease the number.

2.5. Scrolling on Page

This trigger allows you to define that the on-site engagement should only be displayed when the visitors scrolls to the bottom of the page. To enable this trigger all you have to do is toggle on in the right side of the option.

2.6. Campaign

This trigger allows you to define a specific campaign URL that will trigger the on-site engagement; this means that the on-site engagement will only be shown when the user visits a specific campaign URL.

The preference for this trigger include the campaign URL parameters that will trigger the on-site engagement: the key - character before "=" - and the value - characters after "=".

2.7. Referral

This trigger allows you to define a specific referral that will trigger the on-site engagement; this means that only the visitors arriving to your site from a referral from the specified site in this section will be shown the on-site engagement.

The preference for this trigger is simply the referral URL. Make sure you type it down as http://www.referralurl.com.
